The latest retail development in The Dearne Valley has used Adams Rite’s Sentinel 6 locking package to bolster security.
Located close to the Manvers Lake and parkland area, which is currently used as a training venue for the British Olympic canoeing team, the newly developed Onyx Retail Park features six modern units and is expected to attract well-known retail and food outlets.
With 95,000 visitors attracted each year to the nearby RSPB nature reserve, footfall is expected to be high and therefore door sets and security were required to be both robust and accessible. Supplied by Alusec, the Rotherham based architectural fabricator that provided the door sets and glazing for the new retail park, Adams Rite’s Sentinel 6 locking package was used on all six units.
Featuring an exclusively developed mortice mechanical deadlock and complementary Europrofile cylinder and escutcheon, Sentinel 6 was specified at the project due to its successful inclusion in PAS24 doorset tests; enabling these door sets to meet the Secured by Design accreditation when used in a complete door set.
The high security Sentinel 6 locking package from Adams Rite is engineered to meet the stringent BS EN 12209 Lock Standard Test to Security Grade 6, making it ideal for high profile retail applications.
Paul Hancock, Design Manager for Alusec, said:
“Working on large developments, with strict timescales and multiple supplier elements is always challenging, so it’s important to work with trusted and experienced companies, who will enable you to deliver to site on time with a fit for purpose product. Both Adams Rite and the principle contractor, J F Finnegan of Sheffield, helped in the smooth running of this development.
“Adams Rite’s history of working, not only on high profile projects, but closely with fabricators to deliver durable and secure products, made them an ideal supplier for this development. Its Sentinel 6 locking package eases the specification process by providing a total solution, which provides peace of mind for building owners, as well as safe and effective door opening solutions for staff and customers.”
Steve Rigby, Regional Sales Manager for Adams Rite, added:
“The door sets and glazing supplied by Alusec are not only the perfect vehicle for showcasing the benefits and features of the Sentinel 6 package but they also offer an attractive solution without compromising on standards and quality.
“We worked closely with the architectural fabricator to ensure that all door sets met with the requirements of PAS24 and achieved the Secured by Design accreditation. Thanks to the combined strength of a unique bar bolt and case design, the lock is able to deliver protection against the toughest forms of attack, including those targeting the cylinder, which are often overlooked.
“It is always refreshing to work with fabricators who are informed and attentive to security and building standards, ensuring all aspects of the specification are met.”
The Sentinel 6 deadlock operates with a 17mm Europrofile cylinder, and is available in three backset sizes – 25, 30 and 40mm.
