Adams Rite representatives present to the Association of Insurance Surveyors Experts from leading security solutions providers, Adams Rite and ASSA ABLOY UK, were invited to present to the Association of Insurance Surveyors on 28 January in London. Andy Stolworthy, technical officer for Adams Rite, together with ASSA ABLOY business development director, Paul Browne, spoke to members of the association – which has a fellowship of over 500 professionals in the UK and abroad – about means of escape in commercial buildings and locking standards. The event was part of the association’s programme of activity designed to provide continuous improvement in skills and knowledge within the discipline of risk engineering. Andy and Paul also covered the requirements of Approved Document B within the Building Regulations and the necessary product requirements needed to ensure premises comply. In addition, they described the new forms of attacks against locks and the importance of residential and commercial buildings adopting the evolving standards for locks. They concluded by discussing the considerations to be taken into account when deciding whether safety or security is the priority and stressed the need for the security and insurance industry to pro-actively work together to encourage an increase in implementation of the new lock standards within residential and commercial buildings.
