Dorclose Strike Gold with Adams Rite 7400 One of the country’s biggest suppliers of architectural hardware to the aluminium fabricator market has taken advantage of the Adams Rite 7400’s unique benefits to solve one of the main problems when installing an electric strike for a shop front application. Essex based company, Dorclose, has used the 7400 to solve a common problem when a single aluminium door is located directly next to a glazed panel. Aluminium door manufacturers have re-designed their systems in these applications, combining the doorframe and glazed panel surround into one piece of section, reducing cost and improving aesthetics to the end user. This can have implications when installing electric strikes, as the space previously available to install the hardware is now shared with the glazing. The 7400’s reduced depth makes it one of the slimmest on the market, allowing the standard glazing and section to be used without compromising on performance. Designed to be robust and durable, the 7400 requires minimal force by the occupier to open, helping the frail, elderly and other vulnerable groups and assists with meeting the requirements of Approved Document M of the Building Regulations and the Equality Act. A distributor of architectural hardware across the UK, Dorclose is also one of the country’s largest sellers of transom closers, including the Adams Rite model, which has been used successfully as part of LPS1175 security door tests and has been independently tested to 500,000 cycles. As Managing Director of Dorclose, Mick Saunders is a man with over 30 years in the industry. He commented: “We have been doing really well selling the 7400 to shop front manufacturers because of its slim fit. “The product is also popular with maintenance industry as it is dual voltage, meaning that it reduces the number of parts that a maintenance engineer needs to carry around.” Eryl Jones, Commercial Manager for Adams Rite, said: “Dorclose has been a very loyal Adams Rite customer for some time, so we are delighted that it has been successful in selling the benefits of the 7400. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with Dorclose which, since being established in 2004, has become one of the most respected distributors of architectural hardware to the UK aluminium fabricator market.” Adams Rite, a part of the ASSA ABLOY Group, the global leader in door opening solutions, is a leading provider of high quality hardware to aluminium door manufacturers.
